NCAA D1 softball programs can offer a maximum of 12 full scholarships per team. In California, competition for roster spots at D1 programs is intense, so building early relationships with coaches is essential.
Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center during your sophomore year. D1 programs cannot evaluate you in person until September 1 of your junior year, but coaches may begin contacting you June 15 after your sophomore year.
D1 coaches can send written correspondence starting June 15 after your sophomore year. Official visits are limited to 5 total across all D1 schools. Plan your visits strategically to programs where you have genuine mutual interest.
