You can email a coach at any age, in every division — the NCAA contact rules restrict what coaches can initiate, not what athletes send. When a coach can respond depends on the division:

  • D1Coaches cannot reply — by call, text, email, or DM — until September 1 of your junior year. They still read earlier emails, so send them anyway.
  • D2Coaches can email, call, and text at any age (since a September 2024 rule change). June 15 after sophomore year gates only in-person contact and official visits.
