Third base — the hot corner — demands fast reactions, a strong arm, and the guts to stay in front of hard-hit balls. Because it's a corner spot, coaches also expect offensive production: third basemen are often recruited for their power and run-producing bat as much as their glove.

How to Get Recruited as a Third Base
